Carlos Solari is an internationally recognized information technology and cyber security expert. He has been involved in some of the most sensitive roles in the U.S. federal government as well as in large multinational corporations. As the former CIO of The White House, Carlos was responsible for the IT systems for the Executive Office of the President where the highest levels of national security must be protected. He also served as Vice President and General Manager of Global Security Solutions for CSC where he led a team of cyber security experts protecting critical infrastructure for private and public sector accounts. Earlier in his career, Carlos was a senior executive at the FBI where he led the development of a nationally deployed system for counter-drug operations. The system subsequently became the FBI’s intelligence database. He also served as Program Executive for the creation of the FBI’s global command and communication facility.
A published author, Carlos and a team of colleagues wrote “Security in a Web 2.0+ World” where they anticipated the transformation of the IT world to include mobility, cloud computing, virtualization and social networking and outlined what these changes would bring in terms of potential security threats and challenges. An active speaker on the cyber security circuit, Carlos also brings his rich experience to the classroom serving as an adjunct professor for George Mason University. Carlos is also a retired Major from the U.S. Army. He served for 13 years and earned the Army Ranger Tab and Paratrooper wings. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington and Lee University and a Masters Degree in Systems Technology from the Naval Postgraduate School.
