Nuclear Cyber Security SME

Marlene Ladendorff, PhD, is a Nuclear Cyber Security SME for the Department of Homeland Security's Industrial Control Systems Cyber Emergency Response Team (ICS-CERT). Her specific areas of interest and expertise include industrial control systems cyber security in the nuclear power and energy critical infrastructure sectors in the United States. Marlene has written cyber security strategies and training plans for the domestic nuclear power infrastructure as well as other critical infrastructure sectors. Marlene’s academic coursework and dissertation studied the effect of the NERC CIPs on the reliability of the U.S. electrical grid. She has collaborated with other universities in follow-on research to her dissertation findings. In addition to her published research on energy critical infrastructure cyber security, she has performed research on automotive cyber vulnerabilities, critical infrastructure remote access cyber threats, and emerging cyber threats in critical infrastructure, specifically nuclear power and energy. Marlene also performs cyber security consulting for domestic nuclear power plants and is an adjunct professor teaching master’s level courses in Information Technology cyber security.
